Salt & Straw’s Ice Cream Empire Strikes Abbot Kinney and Arts District – Eater LA

Salt & Straw Ice Cream Empire StrikesLA’s ice cream game is getting even stronger.Great news for ice cream lovers. After rumors of a new Westside shop started circling a few months ago, Salt & Straw, the Portland-based, chef-driven creamery with a current LA location in Larchmont Village, announced the opening two more scoop shops in the Los Angeles area. With upcoming locations at 1357 Abbot Kinney in Venice and 829 E 3rd Street in the Arts Districts, the expanding ice cream empire will span a wide breadth of the city, making its popular sea salt with caramel ribbons more readily available for all.

Construction on the 1,035 square foot space on the corner of Abbot Kinney and California Ave will begin shortly, with an expected opening of Fall 2015.

The Arts District will receive its larger, 2,300 square foot shop early next year. Thankfully,

Eastsiders who can’t wait to dig into Salt & Straw’s LA-inspired flavors like avocado and strawberry sherbet, the Salt & Straw ice cream truck will begin scooping outside its upcoming Arts District location 7 days a week from noon to 10 p.m. beginning this Friday, August 14.
